Abstract

The theme of the research is to assess whether religion is associated with the job motivation of employees in organisations in the Ghanaian context. A sample of 140 employees was conveniently selected for the study. Secondary and primary data were used for the study. A self-designed questionnaire was used to collect primary data for the research. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data collected. The findings of the research indicate religious differences exist in employees’ motivation in some motivational variables. For some motivational variables, there was a significant negative association with religion, whereas in other variables there was a significant positive association with religion. The paper is among the very few papers that have analysed the effect of religion on motivation in the study area. The paper contributes to strengthening the suitability and meaningfulness of the concept of religion in motivation across various cultures.
