Abstract

For conservation and genetic transformation, a successful efficient and in vitro micropropagation protocol for Ajuga parviflora, has been established for first time. MS media supplemented with 8mg/l IBA (Indole-3-butyric acid) showed 8.1±0.58 average number of roots, 8.8±0.28 cm average root length and 9.4±0.22cm average maximum length of roots per explants after 12 weeks of postdate of inoculation. Callus and somatic embryos were green and more compact under the effect of 2 and 1 mg/l KIN (Kinetin) after 14 weeks of postdate of inoculation. Furthermore, in vitro shoot induction and purple-blue colour flowering was achieved in MS medium supplemented with 3 mg/l IAA (Indole-3-acetic acid) after 14th weeks of postdate of inoculation. Average number of shoots, maximum average length of shoot and average length of shoots per explants were 4.2±0.36, 4.71±0.24 cm and 4.24±0.22cm respectively. In literature, there is negligible study on in vitro propagation of Ajuga parviflora. So, this present work clearly demonstrated the efficient micropropagation, which could be starting point for futuristically more thorough attempts in this area.
