Abstract

In Morocco, the stone pine is used for reforestation for three purposes: protection, wood production and seed production. The objective of this study is to propose to the forest manager the principles and techniques of a rational management of stone pine plantations in Morocco, focusing on pruning and thinning operations in stone pine stands. The effectiveness of the application of silviculture principles relies to a large extent on good stand growth, early pruning and the determination of the periodicity, nature and intensity of thinning. This study is based on an analysis of studies and works carried out in Morocco and abroad related to the silviculture of stone pine.
