Abstract

In this paper, we discuss the behavior of exotic nucleus 8B elastic scattering from heavy target 208pb at two different energies; 50 MeV (coulomb energy) and 170.3 MeV . For this purpose, we perform double folding (DF) calculations by treating 8B as a (7Be+P) and (7B+n) core-nucleon system and evaluate the central part of the nuclear optical potential. The calculations including real and imaginary optical potentials are shown to reproduce very well the elastic scattering cross sections obtained by folding the density independent (DIM3Y) effective nucleon-nucleon interaction with the halo density distribution of the 8B nucleus. The results of the two configurations similarly describe satisfactorily relevant experimental data. This confirms the validity of the halo structure of the 8B nucleus within these models.
